Regular Union Meeting

August 3 & 4, 2009  8:00PM

Officer’s reports:  President Lewis covered the following.

Met with the Chief about a Pt. care incident.  1 member received a letter of reprimand, 1 member received an oral reprimand and 1 member received nothing. 

Military personnel need to be aware that the city is not responsible for insurance 30 days after deployment starts. 

Mark Adams had a previous injury and a new injury.  After investigation, the city will allow J-Time and light duty while both are fixed.

August 11 there will be a candidate forum with labor groups and those running for City Council.  Local 4 will attend.

 

Committee Reports: 

Policy Committee:  Items discussed were; adding an annual budget to the By-Laws of Local 4.  Job descriptions for all Local 4 officers.  Meeting agendas.  The use of station stewards and a Local 4 chain of command.

FIREFEST Committee:  The planning process is complete.  Volunteers are needed to make this event a success.  People need to contact Dave Deery or Dan Lamb by e-mail with their availability to help on the night of the event.

Treasurer’s Report:  All AYE

 

Old Business:

2009-27 Move that Local 4 no longer read the Treasurer’s Report at the monthly meetings, but instead has them posted at each meeting for members to look at if they desire.

New Business:

2009-28  Moves that Local 4  (AKA Denny Lewis since he has no clue what it takes to do a website, namely

the necessary information for accurate updates ) remove Kenny Parkins as the administrator of the Local 4 website and recover any previously purchased software.

                                    Motioned tabled until the September meetings.

 

2009-29  Move that Local 4 instruct Pres. Lewis to form a committee to investigate the proposal for 40 hour positions and report to the body.

2009-30  Move that Local 4 support and endorse Tom Vlassis and David Adelman in their raced for City Council election.

2009-31  Move that Local 4 form a building committee to look into the purchase of a building to use as a union hall.

Good and Welfare:

Jamie Sauters grandfather passed away.

Garland Shirley is being sent to IA City for a disability hearing.  He has been told that if he can pass the city’s physical, then he might be able to return.

Amy Montgomery had surgery and will be on sick leave for several weeks.

Brandon Hutchinson has been cleared by a surgeon.  City Dr. wants him on physical therapy for another month.

Thad White continues to rehab.

Jeremy Milani had a baby girl.

MDA Lock-up will be Aug 13th.  Members willing to help should contact Kenny Larson.

Doing a haunted house as a fund raiser will not happen this year.  Continued planning and research is still needed.
